For Law Enforcement Agencies
Supporting Investigations Involving Protected Luxury Assets
TBTracer is committed to enhancing the security and verifying the authenticity of high-value timepieces and handbags through our physical and digital footprinting system. We recognize the vital role law enforcement agencies play in combating theft, fraud, and the trafficking of counterfeit goods. This page provides information on how TBTracer may be able to assist active investigations involving assets protected by our system and outlines the procedures for requesting assistance.
How the TBTracer System Works:
Our system creates a unique link between a physical luxury item and a digital record:
- Physical Footprint: A discreet physical market is applied to the asset.
- Digital Footprint (NFT): A unique Non-Fungible Token (NFT) is created on the Polygon blockchain, acting as a digital title/certificate of ownership and authenticity, linked to the specific physical item via identifiers.
This system aims to deter theft, discourage counterfeiting, and provide verifiable provenance.
How TBTracer Can Assist Law Enforcement:
Subject to applicable laws and privacy regulations, TBTracer may be able to assist active investigations by:
- Verifying TBTracer Presence: Confirming if a recovered item has an authentic TBTracer physical footprint.
- Identifying Associated Digital Records: Locating the corresponding NFT digital certificate linked to a specific physical item's identifier, if registered in our system.
- Providing Transaction History (Blockchain Data): Furnishing publicly available information recorded on the Polygon blockchain regarding the NFT's transfer history (ownership changes of the NFT itself).
- Confirming Reported Status: If an owner has utilized the TBTracer system to report an item as stolen (functionality dependent on your platform features), we may be able to share this status.
- Providing Registered Information (Requires Legal Process): Assisting in identifying the registered owner associated with a specific TBTracer NFT, strictly upon receipt of valid legal process (such as a subpoena, court order, or warrant) compelling such disclosure.
Information We May Hold:
Our records typically include:
- Data linking the physical footprint identifier to the specific NFT.
- Information recorded within the NFT metadata (e.g., hashed serial number, item model, date of minting).
- Publicly available blockchain transaction data for the NFT.
- Account information for the individual or entity who registered the item and holds the NFT. Access to non-public user information requires valid legal process.
Procedure for Requesting Assistance:
To ensure requests are handled efficiently and in compliance with legal and privacy requirements, please follow these steps:
- Formal Request: All requests must be submitted in writing on official LEA letterhead.
- Required Information: Please include:
- Legal Process (If Requesting Non-Public User Information): Requests for non-public user or account information (e.g., registered owner's identity or contact details) must be accompanied by a valid subpoena, court order, search warrant, or equivalent legal process issued under applicable law. Please ensure the legal document clearly specifies the information sought from TBTracer.
- Submission: Send the formal request and any accompanying legal documents to our dedicated Law Enforcement liaison via:
Response Time:
We aim to acknowledge receipt of valid requests within 7-10 business days. Processing time will depend on the complexity of the request and the requirement for legal review. Requests involving legal process will be handled according to the timelines stipulated therein or as soon as reasonably practicable.
Important Considerations:
- Cooperation: TBTracer is prepared to cooperate fully with lawful requests from verified law enforcement agencies.
- Privacy: We are committed to protecting our users' privacy and will only disclose non-public information when legally compelled to do so.
- Limitations: TBTracer is not a law enforcement agency and cannot engage in active recovery efforts. Our role is limited to providing information held within our systems as permitted by law. The accuracy of some data (e.g., initially registered owner information) relies on user input.
- Confidentiality: Information provided by LEAs will be treated as confidential and used solely for the purpose of processing the request.
